Course Eligibility
All applicants to the M.Sc.
degree programme must possess Bachelors Degree in Agriculture, Natural Science or any equivalent
qualification from a recognized Institute of higher education acceptable to the Board of Study in
Agricultural Biology and Plant Protection. Those applicants holding degrees other than Agriculture or
Natural Science will be required to follow pre requisite
courses on the advice of the Programme Coordinator.
Course Duration
The course will be taught over
three semesters (each of 15 weeks duration), beginning with the normal
academic year of the Institute. On
successful completion of prescribed courses, a Directed Study will have to be
carried out by every candidate, under the supervision of a member of the academic
staff of the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture.

The Board of Study in Biostatistics is offering M.Sc. in
Applied Statistics and M.Sc. in Biostatistics. The programme of study for M.Sc.

(18 months). However, the time taken
by a particular student to complete the prescribed requirements will depend
upon his/ her application to the
programme of study.
Course Requirements
A minimum of 30 credits of course work (including directed
study) is required for the M.Sc. degree. The compulsory courses for all M.Sc.
candidates will be decided based on the qualifications (and the recommendation
of the supervisor, if applicable). Every M.Sc. candidate will be required to
undertake a Directed Study for a period of one semester under a member of the
academic staff of the PGIA.

Program Structure
During the first semester,
students are required to take five compulsory courses excluding two
prerequisite courses, Basic Mathematics and Basic Statistics. In the second
semester, students should take several compulsory and elective courses.
The courses are structured in
such a way that more emphasis is paid on hands-on-skills with respect to
application of Statistics. Special assignments, readings, group discussions and
computer practicals are mandatory elements of each of the courses. Grade will
be assigned based on the distribution of marks.
Course Duration
The duration of the Diploma
programme is two semesters (12 months).
Course Requirements
A minimum of 20 credits of course
work (including Independent study/Seminar) is required for the completion of
Diploma.
The minimum GPA required to
obtain the Diploma is 2.75.

Course Eligibility
The applicants must have a sound background in social
science or management of development projects and should possess a Bachelor s
Degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institute of higher
education acceptable to the Board of Study in Agricultural Extension. They must
have a good ability to speak, understand and write in English.
Programme of Study
The programme of study for the M.Sc. Degree will consist of
course work and an internship/ directed study.
Course Duration
The M.Sc. programmes are with a minimum period of 3
semesters (18 calendar months). However, the time taken by a particular student
to complete the prescribed requirements will depend upon his / her application
to the programme of study. On successful completion of the prescribed courses,
an internship / directed study will have to be carried out by every candidate under
a supervisor.
Course Requirements
The candidates are required to take certain compulsory
courses. However, they can be exempted if the Board of Study in Agricultural
Extension feels that the candidates have followed equivalent courses from other
recognized institutions. No credits will be given to these exempted courses.
Details of the courses are given under Course Capsules. All candidates for the M.Sc. are required to complete a
minimum of 33 credit units for the successful completion of the course. All
compulsory courses must be completed and the balance credits be covered by elective
courses.

sufficient background in Economics may have to follow few pre-requisite

university. Since this programme requires a strong background in economics, B.Sc.
(Agriculture) graduates specialized in Agricultural Economics and
B.A. (Economics) graduates are preferred. A limited number of mathematics and
engineering graduates will also be admitted for the programme with the recommendation
of the Board of Study in Agricultural Economics.

M.Sc. in Natural Resource Management (NRM) is an
interdisciplinary degree programme. Applicants with a degrees in Pure sciences
(Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), Applied Sciences
(Agriculture, Engineering, Medicine), and Social Sciences are eligible for
admission to this programme.
